Mike Kiehn
About
Mike’s passion for model building started at an early age in the foothills of the Snowdonia mountain range in North Wales. Low flying RAF and USAF jets would scream over his childhood home at low altitude preparing for a potential war in central Europe. Spilled glue, fingerprints in the paint, misplaced parts… but always a passion to get better and replicate the models on the sides of the box or in the catalogue. Over the past 35 years Mike has honed his art and now creates models that surpass those in the pictures he idolised as a child. Over time has diversified from aircraft into ships, tanks, and figures. Running through Mike’s work is the story that it represents, it can be a historical event, or a design decision in the construction of a vehicle.
These days Mike lives in Asheville in the mountains of Western North Carolina with his wife Jenny and their four young children.
